Little Faith and Big Faith

There are different kinds of faith: little faith and big faith.

Those who have little faith worry about everything. They believe in God, but they don’t believe that He will take care of everything.

People with little faith:

  • Worry about everything
  • Don’t hold onto God’s promises

People who have little faith do not believe that God will take care of everything in our lives. The Word of God clearly tells us that that He is our healer, our provider, our deliverer. But people with little faith try to take care of things by themselves.

People with little faith have a hard time believing we can walk in divine health, victory, and prosperity. Their faith is like an ocean wave, in and out, in and out. They believe in salvation, but not in every word in the Bible.

Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Jesus says, “Come to Me. I will take care of you.”

John 7:37-38
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Jesus says, “Come to Me and you will never thirst again.”

People with little faith read these promises but don’t believe them. They don’t apply them to their lives.

  • Allow their environment to control their lives.

Believers should control their environment. We should not allow our environment to control us. We should not allow fear of COVID-19 to control us. We should allow the Holy Spirit and His Word, His promises, to control us.

Remember the story of Peter. When he was walking on the water, he started looking around. Fear of his environment took over and he started sinking. But when he looked at Jesus, he walked on the water. When he started sinking and drowning, Jesus said, “You of little faith.” Why? Peter was being controlled by his environment and not by Jesus’ words.

Don’t allow what you hear, what you see, what you feel to control you. Allow the Holy Spirit to control your life. Allow the Holy Spirit to take control over you.

  • Only believe part of scripture, not all of scripture

If you have a problem with faith, it’s because you have a problem with the way that you think.

Isaiah 53:1-5
Who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

The Jews had a problem with this scripture. They didn’t believe that their Messiah would be rejected and abandoned and beaten and abused. They believed that He would be their king, their deliverer, their ruler. They believed that He would rule and reign in power and glory. They didn’t believe that He would suffer and die.

The disciples were the same way. They didn’t believe the Word of God.

Matthew 16:21-23
21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

God wants us to have faith to believe.

When you only believe part of scripture, you will be miserable. You must believe all in order to have a peaceful, powerful life.

God bless you,
