Redeem the Time

February 12, 2017 Discerning Reader 2 Comments

We need to use this time to examine our heart and redeem the time because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15-16
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

We need to know what we will do each day. Time belongs to God. God created time and space in the very beginning; they are a gift from God. Time belongs to God. We should not waste time.

Taking care of God’s business should be our number one priority in how we use our time.

Our time is limited; we cannot create more time in a day. So we must prioritize our time and use it the best way. Our time on earth is also limited. No one can live forever. Time belongs to God. Until we die, we need to use our time wisely.

When you get to heaven, God is going to ask you what you’ve done with the time that He gave you.

“Redeeming the time” means that we must use our time to buy something – use that time to do the work of God so that the time that you use is for a useful purpose. Don’t waste time. Use your time to take care of God’s business, to save souls, to do His work. Do what God tells you to do.

Taking care of your personal life and business should not be your first priority. Having fun should not be your first priority.

If God is first in your life, you will take care of His business first.

Examine your life and heart to see if you have been using your time wisely and according to God’s will. Look back. Have you been a good steward of God’s time in your life?

Ask yourself:

  1. What can I do for God and His kingdom?
  2. What do I need to do for God and His kingdom?
  3. What am I hoping for in this life?

If you haven’t been, make a change. Repent. Start using your time in the way that God wants you to.
