Fight the good fight

Many people are fighting a battle, but they don’t know who their enemy is. They think the enemy is their spouse, their boss, their in-laws, the government, the president, or their children. None of these are our enemy.

Our enemy is self.

What does it mean to fight the good fight? Fight to give up yourself. We need to die everyday. We need to stop planning to die once a week or once a month.

If you refuse to die, you will go to hell when you die. We must take up the cross of Jesus daily in order to go to heaven. Heaven is for overcomers. Scripture clearly tell us that heaven is for overcomers. If you live by the flesh, you will surely die.

When we are born, our flesh is alive, but our spirit is death. Satan deceives people everyday. He makes people think that this world is very fun. But we must fight the good fight of faith.

1 Timothy 6:11-16
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

In the Old Testament, Moses was also called “man of God.” (Deuteronomy 33:1, 1 Chronicles 23:14). Those who deliver the message of God are called “man of God.” God is calling you, “O man of God.” This means you must be obedient. There is a price to pay to be called a man of God.

The price is obedience.

Those who are led by God’s Spirit are called “man of God.”

Romans 8:14
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

God expects men and women of God to live in victory and power everyday. The joy of the Lord is our strength. His Word is our strength and power. If you eat the Word everyday, you will have strength even in the midst of the storm. Study the Word of God and let the Word soak into your heart. Don’t just read and gloss over the Word. Let the Word take charge over your emotions. Let your emotions be led by the Word rather than by your flesh.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Paul directed Timothy to stay away from those things that would tempt him and cause problems.

2 Timothy 2:22
22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

1 Timothy 1:18
18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,

Before you fight, you must be prepared for the battle. If you fight using the Word of God, you will win. If you fight using your intelligence, your position, or man’s power, you will eventually lose. When you fight, prepare for battle with the Word of God.

How did Jesus fight? Using the Word of God (Matthew 4, Luke 4). We must fight using the Word of God.

The Word of God has all of the wisdom that you need to live this life powerfully and successful. The Word of God tells us how to live so that when we die we will go to heaven. Put the Word of God into your heart.

God bless you,
