What does the Bible say about salvation? What does the Bible say about the Book of Life.

The name of the rich man in Luke 16 was at one time written in the Book of Life. But he lived life for himself. He continually pleased his flesh and sought to live life his own way. He lost his place in heaven. The rich man had a chance to keep his name written in the Book of Life, to stay in a state of salvation.

Revelation 3:1-6 clearly tells us that our name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.

The most important thing in our lives is salvation. Don’t lose your salvation. Not everyone who calls Jesus, “Lord,” will have his or her name written in the Book of Life.

The Bible talks about the Book of Life eight times. Some people believe that once your name is written there that it can never be erased. This is wrong.

Revelation 3:5
5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

The Lord sees everything that you do. The angels make a record of it. Any time you commit sin, it’s recorded. When you fight with someone, commit adultery, steal, lie, lust after someone, or commit any other sin, it’s recorded. When we die, our records will be exposed. Those who have not repented will see their see all over again.

Those who are written in the Book of Life are citizens of heaven. When they get to heaven, there will be no more pain sorrow, or agony.

Revelation 21:3-4
3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Whose name is written in the Book of Life? Citizens of heaven. Those who overcome.

Philippians 3:20
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Those who are citizens of heaven should have a lot of confidence. Your citizenship gives you authority and position. Wherever we go, we have power and authority and privilege.

The Book of Life is like your heavenly birth certificate.

Jesus told His disciples not to rejoice because the demons obeyed them but because their names were written in the Book of Life.

Luke 10:20
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

The Book of Revelation tells us about overcomers. Overcomers are not defiled by sin. Overcomers will enter into heaven.

Revelation 21:27
27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

You can lose your salvation by being hateful. Heaven does not permit sin. If you commit sin today and then commit the same sin again tomorrow, it shows that you didn’t truly repent. To repent is to turn away from that sin, to not sin again.

Many preachers preach that you cannot lose your salvation, but the Bible clearly tells us that you can lose your salvation if you turn away from God and live a wicked and evil life.

Heaven is for overcomers.

To overcome, we need to always work on our spiritual life, always examine our spiritual lives. If you are critical or lustful or angry, you must change. You must overcome. If you make people around you uncomfortable or nervous, that is terrible. You should be a blessing to other people. You should be a blessing to those around you.

We always need to wear the garment of righteousness. God is the King. If we do not wear the garment of righteousness, the King will kick us out of heaven, out of His wedding feast.

Matthew 22:11-13
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

What is the wedding garment? The garment of love. The garment of praise. The garment of holiness. The garment of peace and righteousness. The garment of giving.

If you come into the feast of the King, you must wear the right garment. If you are a citizen of heaven, you must dress like it. If you aren’t dressed in the right garment, you will be kicked out.

Everywhere you go, you are citizen of heaven. You are a citizen of heaven at church, at home, at work, everywhere you go. So everywhere you go, you must wear the garment of righteousness.

God is watching everything that you do. He is a witness to everything that you do. He sees what you eat. He sees what you drink. He sees what you wear. He hears what you say. He sees what you do. He hears your thoughts.

This day many people wear the wrong garment and say they are Christians. They are deceived. They will find out that their names are not written in the Book of Life.

Scripture tells us about many different kinds of books: the Book of Life, a book of remembrance, a book of judgment, a book where our works are recorded, a book that records our sins: Malachi 3:16, Revelation 3:8, Revelation 17:8, Revelation 21:27, Psalm 69:28, Philippians 4:3, Daniel 7:10, Job 13:26, Job 19:23, Psalm 56:8, Psalm 139:16, Hebrews 12:23, and Revelation 20:12.

This life that we live is very temporary. Our flesh is very weak and sensitive. Let’s make our lives right. We are not promised tomorrow. It’s for your own benefit that you make peace with others, pray, win souls, give to others, take care of the poor and needy, give tithes and offerings, love others, study the Word of God. God doesn’t gain anything from your obedience. Your obedience is a blessing to yourself first of all.

People always want to give themselves the best of everything. The best food. The best clothes. The best electronics. Give the best gift that you can to yourself today. Take off the garment of flesh. Put on the garment of righteousness. Give yourself the best gift that you can, the gift of salvation.

God bless you,
