God called him, “Fool”

Those who rely on money and think they will have a happy life because of their money are fools. God calls them fool.

Luke 12:16-22
16 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ 18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
21 “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
22 Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.

God can give you money. He can take it away. Money comes and goes very quickly. Money is not stable. Why would you put your hope and trust into something that isn’t stable.

Put your heart and hope and trust into God. We need to put our hope into God, into something powerful and stable and mighty.

It is very foolish to put your hope and trust into money. The economy can change. We can experience financial disaster. You can lose your job. The stock market can crash. There are many things that can happen that can change your financial situation. History shows us that money is fleeting. It cannot be our God. If you trust money, it will fail you.

God can supply every your need if you trust Him.

Parents need to teach their children to trust God. Help them to make the Bible their best friend. Teach them to tithe and give offerings to God.

Haggai 1:5-8
5 Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!
6 “You have sown much, and bring in little;
You eat, but do not have enough;
You drink, but you are not filled with drink;
You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm;
And he who earns wages,
Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! 8 Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the Lord.

This is what happens to those who only think about themselves and don’t think about God or others. When you steal from God and are stingy with the things of God, you will work hard but lose money. It will be like you are putting that money into a bag with holes. All kinds of little things will happen that will steal your money from you. Accidents or things will happen that cost money. You’ll get sick and have to buy medicine. You’ll injury yourself. Things will break. When you put money first, you will lose it in many different ways.

But when you put God first, even though you give offerings or take care of other people, He will provide all you need and He will protect you. You will spend and spend but your pantry will always be full.

2 Kings 4:1-7
1 A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”
2 So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. 6 Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”
And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”

This can happen to you. Why did this happen? Her husband served the Lord and planted good seed. When you serve the Lord, build the kingdom, and lay down your life for Jesus Christ, your children will prosper from generation to generation.

Don’t let God call you “fool.”

Don’t put your hope into something unstable, like money. Don’t put your hope in your job or your family or your finances. God wants you to turn away off of the things of this world and put your eyes on Him. Put Him first in every area of your life and He will take care of you.

God bless you,
