God moves in two different ways, as salt and as light.
God’s Word tells us to be the salt and light of the world. Through that, God wants to build His kingdom.
Salt melts away and disappears into the food. That was Moses; he disappeared. From time to time, God wants you to disappear and not be noticed.
God is also light. Light shines in the darkness. Light is easily seen.
When Moses tried to show before his time, he ended up making a mistake and ran to the wilderness for 40 years. There is a time for everything. There is a time to be light and a time to be salt.
Moses was salt for 40 years, hiding in the wilderness, tending his father-in-law’s sheep. Then suddenly God called him again, when he was 80 years old. God hid Moses for 40 years from his enemy.
Moses tried to be light to Egypt when he was 40, but it wasn’t God’s timing so God moved Him to the wilderness to hide him for a time.
There are times in our own lives when we want to be light, when we want to show. But God wants us to be salt and allows us to be hidden away. God is hiding us from the enemy.
Salt disappears, but quietly brings seasoning to food. During that time when we are hidden we are called to bring change through fasting and prayer.
The time will come when God calls you to be light, to expose the darkness in this world.
Sometimes people want to be light right now. They don’t want to wait. They get tired of waiting so they leave. They get tired of God using them secretly and behind the scenes; they want God to use them in the front. But everything is for a time.
God hid Moses for 40 years. That’s a long time. God hid Abraham for 70 years before God called him and told him that he would be blessed.
When it’s time to be light, you have to be in the perfect will of God and in the place where God has put you. God will bring you into the light. Wait for God to bring you into the light.

It’s comforting to realize that the Lord hides us away to prepare us for His work, as well as protect us from the enemy. That does makes sense, and brings hope to the silent, dark times.
