Revelation 17:1

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters

The harlot = religious organization, false religions

James 4:4

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

God hates the sin of harlotry. Harlotry and adultery are the same. Friendship with the world is considered adultery in the eyes of God.

Great harlot = those who have forsaken God and worship idols

Whoever has fellowship with this world and lives life for the pleasure of this world is an abomination to God. They are enemies of God. According to scripture, they are harlots.

The great harlot will create a new religion. Religion without God is harlotry.

Many waters = many nations, many languages, many people. All nations will be united to follow this one false religion.

There are many different religions in this world. Many of these people are very nice. We must remember that there is only one way to heaven. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. Nice people don’t make it to heaven. All of us sin, but those who repent for their sin will go to heaven. Those who do not repent, even if they are nice and do good things, will go to hell. We need to always examine our hearts and make sure that our lives are lined up with the Word of God. We need to repent for all sin against God.

My relationship with God today is what counts. Not yesterday. Not last year. My sin or my goodness in the past does not matter. You must have a good relationship with God today. That is the most important thing. Let go of your sin from the past. Let go of your good works in the past. Neither will condemn or save you. It’s your relationship today that matters.
