Joy is our Medicine

The joy of the Lord is our strength. Joy is medicine to our soul. If you are facing disease or trial or depression, overcome with joy. If you are tired, overcome with joy. The joy of the Lord will give us strength to overcome tiredness, sadness, and disease.

You cannot put your hope in anything but Jesus. Don’t put hope in your joy, your spouse, or your children. Don’t put hope in anything but Jesus.

Adam, in the Garden of Eden, was very lonely. He was alone until God brought Eve to him. God created Eve, his wife, and brought her to Adam. Adam was very happy. He accepted his wife and loved her. He wanted to please her, so he listened to her when she brought the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He listened to her and their sin brought sin, disease, curse, and death.

In Genesis 4, Eve gave birth to Cain, then Abel. Because of their disobedience, they brought the curse of disobedience and death into their family.

You might think that disobedience is not a big thing, but it is an open door to greater sin. When they disobeyed God, they lost joy. When they disobeyed God, they hid from God. You can’t hide anything from God; He sees everything.

But God is merciful. Even though they brought a curse to their lives, God gave them a way out. He told them that they would work hard, sweat, endure pain, be lonely, and die. God felt compassion for them and sent Jesus. Jesus came to set us free from curses, disease, and poverty.

There is no reason for us to live under a curse if we surrender our lives to Jesus. He broke the curse. When you allow Jesus to take charge over your life, you can come out of under that curse. There are no curses in heaven. Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. He came to break the curse in your life. He came to destroy the work of the enemy. He came to give us freedom to run to Him without fear.

Since Jesus has broken the curses in our lives, we can live in joy and peace. We must choose to walk in joy. The joy of the Lord will bring healing, deliverance, restoration, hope, and strength to your life.

God bless you!

  1. The mercy of God is evident in the Bible. If feels more difficult to see it in these times when the world looks like it is falling apart …

  2. We need to not “underestimate” even small disobediences, everything has a price, usually a higher price than we EVER thought we’d have to pay. I guess our sins are a bigger deal than we think they are.

  3. Knowing that Jesus came here to “break” the chains of the enemy gives me a strange type of encouragement, maybe I feel this way because I’m realizing that He is here to protect me and my children from Satan’s influence.
