“Enter by the Narrow Gate”, reminds Pastor Sun East

Matthew 7:13-14 tells us that the narrow gate is the way to heaven. The wide road will lead us to hell. It is difficult to stay on the narrow path because you must die to your flesh. You must cast out every ungodly thought.

James 4:4 says that if you are a friend of the world, that you are an enemy of God. You don’t want to be an enemy of God. We need to be God’s friend, which will happen through obedience and loving God. If you trust God, you will not seek His hand, but His face. You will trust in Him 100% to provide all of your needs.

When you seek God’s hand (instead of His face) by worrying about things like money, you make yourself an enemy of God. Why? Worry shows that you don’t trust God. Doubt, worry, and analyzing kills your spirit.

So how do you know that you are walking on the narrow path? By your fruit. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us what the fruit of the Spirit is. If you are walking on the narrow path, you will bear the fruit of the Spirit, the fruit of Jesus.

God bless you!

  1. I’ve always wondered how many people make it through the narrow gate. The Bible says “Few.” Pastor Sun’s insight through the Holy Spirit shows that it’s difficult, but when we have the Holy Spirit and love Jesus we can all be overcomers. I’m looking forward to reading all of her books.

  2. I need to work on not analyzing, and worrying. When I seek His face that is when I remember who God is and how big He is!!!

  3. Worry, worry, worry, reminds me of a song …money, money, money. Luke 12:28 says, ” If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? And verse 31 “But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” Therefore let us die to our fleshly desires and cast out every ungodly thought! Thank you Pastor Sun Hui East!

  4. The narrow gate is “work” every single day… no “down time”… but I remember, Pastor Sun Hui East, you always have taught that “Satan never takes a break”… so neither can we take a break spiritually or become lazy in prayer and Scripture study. Thank you for always pushing your people to be closer to God.

  5. I don’t know if I agree with you, Pastor Sun Hui East, about becoming an “enemy” of God… doesn’t He love everyone and want us to be His children?

    1. Markus,
Thanks for your refreshingly honest question. Yes, God loves everyone and wants everyone to become His child. 2 Peter 3:9 says that He desires for all to come to repentance, but not all do. When we reject Jesus and His sacrifice through our disobedience, we make ourselves become the enemy of God. This is not God’s plan or desire.
      God bless you,
      Pastor Sun
