“The Last Days”

Romans 13:11 tells us that it is high time for us (the church) to wake up. Why? Because Jesus is coming back soon (2 Peter 3:10). Jesus will return like a thief in the night. We don’t want to miss His return.

In the book of Revelation, Jesus gave 5 messages to the last days’ church. First, in Revelation 2:4-5, He tells us to go back to our first love. The evidence of having your first love is that your heart is tender and kind, soft and gentle. The fruit of first love is zeal, faithfulness, giving your best to God, wanting to spend time in His presence and in His Word, and treasuring your time with Jesus. If you have lost that kind of desire and your first love, the first step to getting it back is to repent.

Second, Jesus tells us not to be deceived by false doctrine. Don’t be deceived by the teachings of this world. Do not compromise by listening to ungodly music or watching ungodly movies or TV. Galatians 5:16-26 tells us what the works of the flesh are and Revelation 22:15 tells us what kind of people will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. We must stop pretending to be good Christians and powerful prayer warriors. Instead, we just need to BE good Christians and powerful prayer warriors.

Third, in Revelation 2:22, Jesus tells us to stop committing adultery. This is not just physical adultery, but spiritual adultery. We commit spiritual adultery when we love the things of this world more than the things of God. We must cut off every bondage and desire with this world.

Fourth, in Revelation 3:2, Jesus tells us not to allow our spirit and conscience to fall asleep. We should not look like we are alive, but allow ourselves to die inside. We must always fight for purity and holiness in ourselves, in our church, and in our nation. We must not call evil good and good evil.

Last, Jesus tells us not to be lukewarm like the Laodicean church in Revelation 3:13-22. Heaven is for overcomers. We must not focus on things like money or education. We need to pray for God to revive us once again.

In 1 Peter 4:7-17, God gave 3 assignments to the last days’ church. We must be serious and watchful in our prayers, love one another, and serve one another. Why should we pray? So that we may receive and be filled with the Holy Spirit, to know the secrets of God (His plans for our lives), to overcome this world, to continually be filled with the Holy Spirit, and to resist temptation. Prayer is a very powerful weapon!

God bless you!

  1. Scary stuff, but true. Thank you Pastor Sun Hui East, for always being willing to make us uncomfortable!

  2. I’ve enjoyed reading the first part of Revelation where the Lord speaks to the churches… I always think it is so interesting that despite the depravity of the world, that God is upset with the people who seem to be “trying”. It is very humbling to read these passages and always gets me in a “sober” state of mind regarding my own spiritual condition. I appreciate your intense teaching Pastor Sun Hui East!

  3. I do agree that it is time to wake up. It’s time to wake up spiritually & feel the pull of God in our lives. I liked the way you worded all of that in this post Pastor Sun Hui East, made it much easier to understand.

  4. I would love to see the American church truly wake up and work for God! If each of us threw our energy into serving God ( I know that my husband throws lots of energy into sports related activities and I throw myself into “being busy” with my kids and house) then we would actually see change. Each of us, day after day, choose to do the least for God possible (feeling SO spiritual if we go on a mission trip once every 3 years or have our small group over weekly)… Lord , give us a heart for something bigger! Give us a heart for Matthew 28:20!

  5. I don’t want to die spiritually, I want to grow. Thank you for this post Pastor Sun Hui East! I appreciate you!

  6. I learned way back that the Lord does not want me watching worldly movies and TV shows. I could tell how it affected my prayer life and outlook (even though it was subtle & easy to ignore). However, I actually want depth in my relationship with the Lord. Thank you, Pastor Sun Hui East for the depth of your teachings, I really appreciate it.
