“Become a Powerful Leader”, urges Pastor Sun East

In the book of Numbers, God sent twelve men to spy out the land of Canaan. They all worked very hard, but most of them didn’t live to see the Promised Land because of their negative attitude and words.

In Numbers 13:30, we see that only two men saw the land of Canaan through the eyes of God, through the eyes of promise.

How do we become powerful leaders? First, you must know your future. You must plant seeds into your future. Nothing that you do for the glory of God will be wasted. Every seed that you plant today will bear fruit into your future, but if you are not faithful today, you will not have a future.

When you work, do not complain about the lack of reward today. This earth is not our home. This life is short. Our eternal home is in heaven. Do not put your hope on this earth, but in heaven. When you plant the seeds of self-sacrifice today, you are doing it for tomorrow’s victory. If you take care of God’s business, He will take care of your business. His Word promises that He will take care of your children.

Joshua and Caleb had a vision for their future. To be a powerful leader, you must have a vision for your future. You must have hope. You must plant seeds. Second, you must always rely on God’s power. Do not put hope or trust in human power.

In Numbers 13:31-33, we see that the other ten spies trusted in man’s ability. They disregarded God’s promise in their lives and focused on their own abilities. God promised them a great future, but they rejected it because they did not rely on His ability to bring it to them.

If God tells you to do something, He will provide the ability. He will make it happen, through you. 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 reminds us that God’s power is what matters, not our own. If you trust in man’s power, you will fail. But if you trust in God’s power, you will overcome every situation and you will have a great future. You will also become a powerful leader.

God bless you!

  1. I love this post, it is SO true! When we keep our eyes on the future and keep our hearts full of joyful gratitude, we are in the right place.

  2. This is a powerful message, it really is so very important that we stay in a positive mindframe. It affects our entire life, as well as moment to moment… why wouldn’t it be a spiritual truth as well. Thanks for posting this Pastor Sun Hui East!

  3. The Lord blessed me as a leader during my life already and I know that it was His guidance and my choice to stay close to Him that brought the blessings I have. Thank you for posting this kind of message Pastor Sun Hui East. Good Stuff

  4. I really like this post. It makes sense to me that we “reap what we sow” and that every moment and every deed, here on earth, is recorded in heaven. We are truly accountable and need to keep our hearts and minds on our eternal future. Pastor Sun Hui East, thank you.

  5. It is true that the Lord provides the ability when He asks us to do something. I have seen this play out in my grandparent’s life. They were in a position to inherit a good sized sum of money the same year that the Lord had shown them to build an orphanage/school in southern Mexico. Things came together for that project just as soon as they decided to obey! Thank you Pastor Sun Hui East, your teachings were instrumental, that year to encourage them!

  6. I used this post in our Monday morning meeting this past week Pastor Sun Hui East. It was well received in my small office & I got a few more followers for you.

  7. Its very interesting that only 2 men, Joshua & Caleb had the correct perspective of the enemy that Israel was facing. I re-read that passage after seeing this post & realize how few people truly follow the way of God, even today. We can have a large group of Christians at our church, & when “push comes to shove” we realize that only a small group of them have true relationship with God. It’s so painful, yet eye opening to realize this… I know you always talk about being “real” with God Pastor Sun Hui East! It really came to life in this post.

  8. I am in a position of authority in my job and need to have good spiritual guidance like this on leadership as God sees it! Thank you Pastor Sun Hui East.

  9. It makes perfect sense to me that the Lord wants us to be good leaders. Of course, He wants us to lead others off the “wide road”! Praise the Lord for your work Pastor Sun Hui East! Thank you.

  10. I love that passage about Joshua and Caleb, it is always inspiring to see their courage and strength in that situation! Good post Pastor Sun Hui East, I’m glad you spoke on this.

  11. I know that we need great leaders everywhere, from corporations to families to our governments! Being a great leader starts & ends with God. Lord, help our nation honor You. Godd message Pastor Sun Hui East, may the Lord bless you for all you do!

  12. Being a good leader does start on a spiritual level. I have been humbled more than once by my own behavior, be it ever so slight… I have to remain immovable, un-offended and quiet in the Lord. God help me overcome myself! Thank you for your continued help with the more “intense” kids here at our church Pastor Sun Hui East, I’ll never be able to repay you for all the help you’ve given me and my wife since I first took on this BIG job of being a youth pastor.
