Pastor Sun East’s scripture of the week

Matthew 13:1-9

“On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!””

Remember, the promise that God has given you is your seed. Where will you plant that promise? How will you take care of it? Will you water it regularly and fertilize it?

How you take care of your promise will determine what happens with it, just like a seed. Water your promise with prayer. Fertilize it with the Word of God. Speak life into your promise by speaking words of faith, hope, and trust. Prune the sin out of your life so that your promise can grow and become strong and healthy.

God bless you!

  5. I had to memorize part of this passage at a summer camp that my parents sent me to as a teenager. That was a good memory, as I accepted Christ during that week. (I fell away from Him for many years, but now am back, praise God)

That passage actually never left my mind, I’m really glad for the reminder Pastor Sun Hui East.

  6. I know that it is true that we must “take care” of the promises that God gives us for them to come to pass. We often feel like saying “the Lord said it would happen, so it will”, but that can be a “cop out” to avoid the hard work needed to get there. Thank you for your direct teaching Pastor Sun Hui East. I am always better for having read your stuff!

  7. I have always loved this passage, and I appreciate your clear teaching on God’s promises Pastor Sun Hui East, you are a blessing in all you do!

  8. This particular Scripture passage helped me understand what was going on in my family. Most of my relatives say that they are Christians, but have chosen lives that don’t show His choices or presence… I realized that we can have an experience with the Lord, but we still make choices every day asto whether we follow Him or not. This is kind of scary. I’m glad you made a point of this Pastor Sun Hui East!
