Pastor Sun East’s scripture of the week

Field w_Scripture

Matthew 5:1-12

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

When we are humble before God and acknowledge that we can do nothing without Him, then He will be with us, He will work through us, He will give us the mind of Christ, and the wisdom of God will overflow through us.

Becoming poor in the spirit is the foundation of Christianity and is the road to the kingdom of heaven.

God bless you,

  1. Great passage Pastor Sun Hui East, I have always felt refreshed any time I read this… thank you for posting.

  2. “Blessed are the merciful”. I need to always remember this one (I know that I want to be shown mercy…but don’t always want to give it.) Lord, Keep me humble, knowing that it could be me, that needs the mercy today! Thank you Pastor Sun Hui East for blogging, I will be back.

  3. I just read this to my80 year old mother last night. She is very ill and in the hospital (we don’t know if she will ever come home again). She recently found the Lord, after a lifetime of ignoring Him. This passage is powerful and made her cry (I think she feels guilt for allowing her life to pass with out serving God). I’m happy though, that she now has salvation, and finds comfort in His WORD!
